Satsuki azalea

This is 'Satsuki-tsutsuji' or Satsuki azalea. The other English name is southern indian azalea. The botanical name is Rhododendron indicum.







Yes, I know it's out of season of this flower! The pictures were taken at the beginning of this June (^_^;;; But recently I found some flowers are still open!

* Satsuki-tsutsuji : 皐月躑躅, 五月躑躅, 皐躑躅 (I found three types of spellings. Tsutsuji corresponds to the last two characters, and they are very difficult to write even for Japanese! (^_^;;;))
