Day lily?
This is 'Ohba-Giboushi'. I could not find the English name... but the normal 'Giboushi' corresponds to day lily, plantain lily, or hosta. The other Japanese names are 'Tougiboushi', 'Urippa-Urii-Uryuu-Urui', 'Yamagairoppa', 'Yamaonbaku', etc. However, some sites and/or books say these names are used for a different plants... I cannot say which is right... Anyway the botanical name is Hosta montana.
The Japanese version of this article is here!
